Please take a moment to fill out this important survey:
(Link is at the bottom of the page)

On Monday, September 5, Richland 2 contacted you by phone with some information about an important parent survey that is a part of our district-wide accreditation process.  Your input is essential and we would love for Round Top to have 100% parent/guardian participation.  If you did not already complete the parent survey, the link below will direct you to the district's parent survey site.  The site will explain the survey as well as some of the terms used in the survey.  Please take a few moments to use Habit 8:  Find Your Voice and complete the survey.  Thank you!

Setting Up for School Success

Special thanks to the parents who attended Parent University last night. Program topics were designed to answer teachers' most frequently asked questions at the beginning of the school year. Parents became the students in our classrooms and learned:

  • how organization of information improves student performance
  • how note-taking helps with studying and test preparation
  • games that support vocabulary development and reading comprehension
  • strategies for different learning styles
  • tips for increasing inquiry skills
  • resources in the community, including FREE tutoring!
Save the Date: our next Parent University is scheduled for February 7, 2017. Tell a friend!

Need Extra Credit?

Attendance Matters!! Week #2

Here is your Attendance Update for the week of 9/12/16 through 9/16/16:

  • 22 days of school completed
  • 82 absences this week!
  • 25 students Tardy to school (not in class by 8:10 AM)
  • 40 students signed out for Early Dismissal (signed out before 2:15 PM)
  • 18 of the 40 Early Dismissals were for Friday alone! That's almost 50%!

While we understand that some absences, late arrivals and early dismissals are unavoidable, it is important that we avoid these situations as much as possible. Here are some tips to help ensure your child has good attendance all year long:

  1. Align doctor's appointments and family vacations with the school calendar. Avoid extended vacations that require your child to miss school.
  2. Schedule a regular bedtime and morning routine. Young children need 9-11 hours of sleep. Older children need 8.5 to 9.5 hours of sleep.
  3. No cell phones, video games, and computers at least 30 minutes before going to bed.
  4. Pack lunches and pick out clothes the night before.
  5. Most importantly, be the example for your child. Show them that you value good school attendance and that you won't allow anyone to miss school unless they are truly sick.
Stay tuned for our next Attendance Matters update!

Transportation Changes - Why are they Important?

For your Convenience
Print at home

Why do I need to send a Transportation Change?

Round Top Elementary is committed to Safety for all our students.
With that in mind, all changes in transportation MUST be accompanied by a signed note from a parent/guardian.

All transportation changes are verified by both the Attendance Secretary and the Homeroom Teacher.

What information is needed?

Name of Student (First, Last), Teacher, Grade and New Method of Transportation should be indicated in the note.

What if I have signed them up for a Club that meets at RTE?

ANY changes from the Normal Method of Transportation need to be accompanied by a note. If they will be attending a Club that meets weekly on the same day, only ONE note is needed to verify their enrollment. Clubs are businesses not controlled by RTE and therefore we do not always have access to the most current enrollment information.

Do I need to send a note if  I am signing my student out for Early Dismissal?

Students CAN NOT be dismissed from their classroom until a Parent/Guardian has signed them out in Lobby Guard and their identity has been verified. Any notes sent regarding early dismissals are simply for teacher reference only.

Attendance and Transportation questions? Please email dhill@richland2.org
