Frequently asked questions


Will the thermometers be shipped to homes or to the school?  They will come to the school.


What happens if I don't choose Round Top Elementary?

Your school nurse will not receive your input and your thermometer will not be sent to her. 


How do families and staff sign up? Using their smartphones


Do I have to send text messages with data and temps to get a thermometer?  No, you may receive a thermometer without sending data. Participation is voluntary. Families that do share symptoms or fever will be on an opt-in basis.


How long has this program been running in elementary schools?  5 years, in thousands of elementary schools.


What is the deadline for signing up?  October 30th

Registration for the Round Top BE GREAT Academy’s 2020-21 program is now open!  There is limited space so register and enroll today.  Come join us for award winning fun programs focused on achieving academic success, healthy life styles and character development!  After school care will begin the first day of school and run from school dismissal until 6:30 PM on school days. Participants will receive snack daily and have the opportunity to complete each day’s homework during our Power Hour program.

Book Character Pumpkin Contest - 2020 style!

Deadline: October 26, 2020
  • Work on your own or with your siblings
  • Use an artificial (fake) pumpkin the size of a pie pumpkin. (think small, but not miniature) (Michaels, Hobby Lobby)
  • Decorate the pumpkin to look like a favorite character(s) from a children’s book. 
  • Use your imagination! You may want to paint your pumpkin or use other materials to decorate the pumpkin.

Student's Learning Model for Phase 2

If a parent(s)/guardian wants to change their student’s learning model (in-person or eLearning) for Phase 2, please contact the school by 9am Monday, October 19, 2020. After this deadline, there will be other opportunities to switch between eLearning and in-person based on certain circumstances or at designated dates, which will be published before November 4, 2020.

Flu Vaccinations Available in the Midlands

 

The single best way to prevent seasonal flu is to get vaccinated each year!

Influenza (the flu) is a serious illness you can get from anyone infected.

Prisma Health is helping protect you and your family with FREE flu shots throughout Richland, Lexington, Fairfield, Kershaw and Sumter counties. The flu shot is available for anyone six months and older.

  • Flu shots will be administered by drive-through.
  • Please wear a short-sleeve shirt or loose-fitting clothing that can easily roll up to assist with vaccines.
  • Face masks or shields will be required, along with temperature checks. Anyone with a fever will not be allowed a flu shot vaccine.
