RTE Welcomes Assistant Principal Alison Whisenant!

RTE is pleased to introduce Alison Whisenant as the new 3rd-5th grade Assistant Principal. An educator of 25 years, she has served Richland Two and the Blythewood community for 19 years. She began her career teaching Language Arts in Lexington District Two and Auburn City Schools, then continued teaching Language Arts at Blythewood Middle for 13 years. Mrs. Whisenant most recently served as the Curriculum Effectiveness Specialist at Muller Road Middle for the past 6 years where she led professional learning to support school and district initiatives, including: Read to Succeed, AVID, 7 Mindsets, Mastery Connect, and more. 

Mrs. Whisenant holds a Masters of Education degree in Educational Administration and a Masters of Education Degree in Secondary Education from the University of South Carolina. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Education from Auburn University. She is a National Board Certified Teacher and has recertified twice.
 
Mrs. Whisenant has called South Carolina home for 23 years after growing up in 9 different states in a military family. She and her husband have two children, Avery and Kyle, who have been in Richland Two since preschool. She enjoys watching her kids play sports, traveling, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Summer Reading @ RTE 2022

                 


Students are encouraged to read a minimum of 4-8 books this summer or 30 minutes daily.  It's all about choice, so bring in a picture, medal, reading log, RTE's Summer Reading Checklist, or any proof that you participated in at least one summer reading program by August 26 and receive a treat from Mrs. Symonds.

A Day on Broadway at RTE!


Round Top is putting on a “mini” showcase for each student at Round Top to perform in!

Date: Friday 27th during related arts time! 

Theme: Various songs from Broadway musicals 


Unfortunately, parents will NOT be able to attend due to the 2 visitor maximum per class.

We will be videotaping and sharing it on our school’s blog so everyone can watch. 

If you are able to have your child wear the following, it will make it more fun for everyone!

Attention 5th grade parents! BMS Pathways to Success is April 26

Blythewood Middle School is having its annual BMS Pathways to Success on Tuesday, April 26th, 6:00 p.m., beginning in the school gym. This program will be focusing on making a successful transition for those students and their parents who will be attending Blythewood Middle this Fall.

You will learn about summer opportunities like the BMS JumpStart Camp, BMS Charger Pride Summer Enrichment and afterschool program; receive information about summer reading activity, the 6th grade supply list, and information about enrichment offerings.  Additionally, you will find out what Charger Kick-Off is all about and how you can receive information and keep in touch.  The evening provides an opportunity to visit the 6th grade area classrooms and meet the teachers. Our goal is to provide tools for a smooth transition from elementary school to middle school.  We are looking forward to meeting and working with you soon.

Bad Guys Move-Thursday, April 21-5:00pm

 


Students who are accompanied by a parent or guardian are invited to join 
Mrs. Symonds at the Bad Guys movie on Thursday, April 21, at 5:00pm, at Regal Sandhills.
You may purchase tickets in advance or at the box office.  This movie is rated PG.  It is based upon the popular the Bad Guys book series by Aaron Blabey. Email csymonds@richland2.org with any questions.

Thanks for the Pet Supplies!



Thanks to your generous donations, we have a trunk load of items to deliver to Foster Fostering Animal Rescue.  We received a quantity of food & treats, towels, toys, leads & collars, food bowls, cat litter & paper towels.  Students who participated have been entered in a random drawing to win treats from the media center.  Thanks for your support of this worthy service learning project!

Dance the Night Away at RTE's Spring Fling!

 


The PTO is proud to present RTE’s Spring Fling, April 1, 2022, at the Pavilion at Blythewood Presbyterian Church, which is right next to RTE.
 
We look forward to you joining us between 7pm and 8:30pm. We are excited to announce that Rotie Salley, a current RTE parent, will be our DJ for the evening.
