Read-A-Thon Results

Thanks to RTE students' achieving their reading goals and the generosity of parents, friends and family we raised over $8,000 through the 2017 Read-A-Thon! And best of all since this fundraiser is run completely by the PTO, 100% of those funds will stay at RTE--funding our Media Center and classrooms!

Congratulations to our top earning class: Ms. Cathy Williams 2nd grade class! They will enjoy a Rita's Italian Ice party!

The PTO also distributed 57 prizes to students on Wednesday after our prize drawing! Check out a few pictures below...

It's a Baby...Gorilla!

It's a Baby...Gorilla!

Did you know Macy, a Western Lowlands gorilla at Riverbanks Zoo, is expecting the zoo's first ever goriilla baby?  Nichole Timmerman (K) and Cathy Williams (2) collaborated with each other plus the media specialist, Cindy Symonds, and techology learning coordinator, Jennifer McMackin, to become gorilla experts! Students worked together to create graphic organizers for their information, wrote letters to the zoo, wrote scripts for an informational video about gorillas, and filmed in front of a green screen.  You can see their video here: https://www.wevideo.com/view/875775080.

According to Ms. Timmerman, "What an AWESOME experience for my students!
We had a Google Hangout with Mary King of WIS-TV and the amazing team at Riverbanks Zoo!" John, the primate expert, and Susan, the educational coordinator, took the time to set up the zoo's first Google Hangout with us. Thanks to Mary, John, and Susan for synergizing to make this happen!
