Canned Food Drive Results

Once again, Carolina has achieved canned food domination over Clemson.  That being said, there is no loser when you are raising food for a good cause!

We brought in around 1500 in non-perishable food items.  Our big class total goes to Ms. Reynolds at 123 cans and 1st grade raised the most overall in the school with 368 items.  Well done, everyone.

5th Grade - Interactive Ellis Island Experience

On Monday, November 24, 5th grade students completed their Ellis Island immigrant research studies through the media center with a Being There experience.  Students visited Ellis Island dressed in the costume of their immigrant.  Students traveled to the stations a real immigrant would have visited during their time on Ellis Island.  Much fun and learning was had by all!

Read-In & Pajama Day Tomorrow!

Our annual Fall Into Read-In is Tuesday, November 25, 2014.  Students will enjoy a variety of planned reading themed activities, including students from BMS and BHS reading aloud and our bi-annual book swap.  Students may bring in up to 10 gently used children's books to swap for books from other students.  It's a great way to refresh their home libraries!  In addition, students should have a book and pillow or towel to sit on for their own silent reading time.  It's a Pajama Day at RTE so don't forget the pj's and tennis shoes with socks.

RTE is Thankful

We are thankful!

As we take a short break from school for Thanksgiving, we want to express our gratitude for everyone who makes it possible for as many students as possible to come to school every day, on time, ready to learn.

We thank:
  • Our students and families for making daily attendance a priority since they know the habit of attendance will help them do well in the classroom and eventually in a job.
  • Our wonderful teachers who pour their energy into making each classroom an exciting place for exploration and knowledge so children do not want to miss out on learning.
  •  Our support staff and community volunteers who provide the extra hands and attention our children need.

We especially appreciate everyone’s efforts to avoid taking extra days off during the Thanksgiving holiday. Just a few missed days here and there, even if they’re excused absences, can add up to too much lost learning time and find your child behind in school. This is as true in kindergarten as it is in high school.

We truly are thankful for each one of you so much because we know you are the wind beneath our Aviator wings!  We also hope you will keep in mind that school is closed Wednesday, Thursday and FridayNovember 26 - 28, and reopens Monday, December 1st.

We look forward to seeing you after the Thanksgiving holiday.

Shop Amazon Smile and Help RTE

It's done! We're officially a charity on Amazon. The only catch is that instead of shopping from Amazon.com, you have to remember to go to smile.amazon.com and shop from there (same exact site as the regular Amazon). The first time you visit that site, it asks you witch charity you want linked to your account and you can search just by typing in Round Top Elementary. Once you select us, that's all you have to do--you don't have to do it each time you shop. And there is a Google chrome button you can download that will put a smile.amazon.com button on your task bar to help you remember to go to that site rather than the regular Amazon.

Also, while holiday gift/grocery shopping, please remember to use your Publix tags, clip your box tops and labels for education, and link your Target debit/credit card to RTE to help us earn extra resources for our school.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT OF RTE!
