Reminder: Rock Garden Rocks!



Please return your painted rocks for our 1st Annual Leadership Rock Garden.  If you have done so, decorate a rock with your family's name, 2017-2018 and your favorite 7-Habit.  
Return your rock to your homeroom teacher on April 30th!

SC READY & SC PASS Test Dates

Third, Fourth, and Fifth grade students will participate in spring state testing beginning in the month of May. RTE's testing schedule is as follows:
  • May 10th - ELA Day 1 (3rd, 4th, & 5th)
  • May 11th - ELA Day 2 (3rd, 4th, & 5th)
  • May 17th - Math (3rd, 4th, & 5th)
  • May 22nd - Science (4th)
  • May 24th - Social Studies (5th)
Students received SC State Department of Education Parent and Guardian Information Guides on Friday, April 20, 2018. These guides provide details about each test, including additional resources you can refer to.

Testing Tips & Reminders:
  1. Ensure students get a good night's sleep.
  2. Provide a healthy breakfast each day.
  3. Arrive at school by 8:00 AM.
  4. Avoid absences and/or scheduling appointments during testing hours.
  5. Students many not be in possession of electronic devices during testing.
As always, RTE appreciates your support in helping our teachers and students prepare to do their personal best each and every day, and especially on these very important test days.!

We Need Your Australian items!


G' Day, Mates!

For our school-wide exploration of Australia during PNW (Passports to New World) on May 1-2, please consider sharing any items you might have from Australia.  We'll make sure they are returned after the event.  Some examples of our needs:

  • Stuffed Australian animals (Dolphins, whales, sharks, fish, kangaroos, koalas, platypus, snakes, ostriches, Tasmanian Devils, crocodiles)
  • Boomerangs
  • Surfboards
  • Potted palm trees
  • Walking sticks

Kindergarten Orientation 2018!


Kindergarten Orientation will be held on Thursday, May 17 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. in the RTE Media Center.  Kindergarten teachers and current kindergarten students will provide a brief introduction to this special year in school.  No need to register or sign-up.  We look forward to seeing you there Thursday, May 17 at 6:00 p.m!

Pasta Party from Olive Garden!

                    






Mrs. Williams’ fourth grade class raised the most money in the
school to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Our school total
was $4,847.49.  Mrs. Williams' class raised $383.77 and earned a pasta
party from Olive Garden with all the trimmings. A special Aviator Salute
to Olive Garden from RTE.  Lunch was yummy!

J. Gordon Coogler Poetry Festival Contest Rules
To submit a poem, include your name, age and grade level, phone number, and school that you attend if you are a student. 

1. Poems must be original (which means you have to write it yourself) and may be on any topic up to 20 lines in length.
2. Up to three poems will be selected for each age group category for publication in the Country Chronicle.
Categories include grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12 and Adult.
3. Submitted poems must be previously unpublished.
4. Only one submission per participant is allowed.
5. Poems will be judged by BRAVO Blythewood based on originality and creativity.
6. No illustrations, please.
7. Submissions must be received no later than Tuesday, April 17th at 5:00 PM.
