RTE loves read alouds!

I sure am enjoying being the Reading Coach at RTE. For the last two weeks, I have had the opportunity to go into many classrooms and share a read aloud. This book, Big Al, is one of my favorites. As we read, we made connections to the events in the book and shared our own feelings about making new friends. We also talked about the story elements including; characters, setting, problem, and theme. The start of the school year can be hard, but Big Al reminded us that we can all be friends when we accept one another. Enjoy some of my reactions to a few of the classes that I read to. Until next time...KEEP READING!

What books are you reading at home? Please share with us so we can check them out at the library, or purchase them at our upcoming Book Fair!

Child Development - Ms. Cromer's Class

This was a great group to read to. So many of them related to story to "Finding Dory!" Connections to our reading is always great.

Kindergarten - Ms. Novack's Class -

Boy, did they have connections to the story. I loved that they wanted to share how many friends they made just like Big Al! Thank you!

First Grade - Ms. Cleckley's Class
These kids sure do know a lot about fish. I appreciate them sharing and doing a great job answering questions. The predictions they made were right on target.

Second Grade - Ms. Paschoal's Class

Whew… I was out of breath from all the fun in this room today! These students were great about showing their active listening especially after the wiggle break. Great connections - thank you!

Third Grade - Ms. Sanders' Class
Wow, what a fun group of kids. They made that read aloud so enJOYable for me even after the 100th time :) I can’t wait to visit again! Your class rocks!

Fourth Grade - Ms. Pendarvis' Class

This was the very first class that I read to at RTE. Thank you for letting me share with you kids. You guys were great listeners!

RTE Clubs and Activities

Round Top Club/Activity Offerings

RTE offers several types of clubs and activities for students to experience.  It’s easy to get confused, as there are so many offerings. Here is a breakdown:

1   After School Activities-Paid activities offered by outside vendors providing karate, golf, dance, art, sports, science, etc.

Leader in Me Clubs-School-wide clubs offered during the school day 7 times per year.  Each student will self-select a club in which to participate.  Kindergarten students will participate in a rotation of mini-clubs.

Teacher Sponsored Clubs-Several of our teachers sponsor clubs that typically meet before or after school.  There are currently 8 teacher sponsored club offerings.  Students in grades 2-5 were offered a club fulfillment sheet so they could select the clubs in which they are most interested, 2-3 max.  This fulfillment form is due to the media center no later than 9/1 so individual club forms can be returned to the student’s homeroom. The individual club form deadline is 9/2.  All forms need to be returned to the media center.  No late forms will be accepted.

·        Airmail-Grades 2-3 provide our school mail service (Wed. 7:30am)
·        BB&B (Brown Bags & Books)-Grades 3-5 book club (Wed. lunch)
·        Peter Pan Co-Grades 2-5 Musical Production (Tues./Wed. 3-4pm)
·        PB&J (Parents, Books, & Jrs.) All grades 1/mth w/adult-6:00pm
·        Reader’s Challenge-Grades 3-5 Competitive book club (Mon lunch)
·        Safety Patrol-Grades 3-5 Help with school safety (as scheduled  before/after school)
·        Student Council-Grades 3-5 Service learning group (Thurs. 3-4p)

·        WING-TV-Grades 4-5 Morning news show production (7:45am T/Th or  M/W/F)

Important Information is in the First Day Folder!

Please check your child's white "first day folder" for three important pieces of information.  The Richland 2 handbook acknowledgement form must be signed and returned by September 9, 2016.  Follow the instructions in the letter to access and read the 2016-2017 Back-2-School Handbook on the district website.  The handbook outlines district policies and procedures.  On the back side of the handbook acknowledgement form is some important information about our school lunch program.

Also, please review the information from Strawbridge Studios about our fall picture day -- Friday, August 26, 2016.  Thank you for your support and we look forward to making the 2016-2017 school year our BEST yet!
