5th grader, Julia Friedman, entered a National writing contest and won!! She was recognized at the RSD2 School Board meeting on 8/25. We are SO proud of you, Julia!
Below, in her own words she describes her trip:
BreyerFest is a yearly celebration of Breyer model horses, which are toy horses about 9 inches tall, that takes place every year at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY. I won 4 tickets to BreyerFest by entering an essay contest sponsored by Young Rider magazine. At Breyerfest, we watched many horse shows and games in the covered arena. We got to meet many of the real horses that are models for Breyer horses. We also went shopping for model horses. My sister, Calla, did the pony rides and we all rode the mechanical bull ride. We painted mini Breyer Horses and took them home. Last but not least, I met my favorite author, Jessica Burkhart, who writes the Canterwood Crest book series.
