CHILDREN TRANSPORTED
TO SCHOOL BY CAR
Each
school day many children are transported to and from school by car. RTE’s most
important concern is the safety of all children. To ensure safe and smooth
movement of traffic while on campus, begin with the end in mind by following
these guidelines:
Morning
· Children
should not be dropped off at school
prior to 7:30 a.m. unless enrolled in the Early Bird (Boys & Girls Club)
Program.
· Observe
the speed limit on campus (10 mph) and follow the blue line closest to the
curb.
· Pull
forward as far as possible in the right lane before dropping off a child, to
allow other vehicles room to do the same.
· Remind
children to exit your car only along the sidewalk/passenger side of your
vehicle.
Afternoon
· Have child’s name and
grade visible on dashboard.
· Pull
forward as far as possible in the right lane before picking up a child, to
allow other vehicles room to do the same.
· Do
not leave your car parked in the lane along the sidewalk.
· Do
not leave your car to look for your child in the pick-up area. Your child will
identify your car at the car rider area and will be allowed to enter your car
when it is safely stopped.
· Remind
your child to enter only along the sidewalk/passenger side of your
vehicle.
Reminders
· Students
will not be allowed to cross the parking lot unless at the crosswalk.
· Please
remember to be courteous. Do not cut in
front of others or drive in an unsafe manner.
· If
you must come into the building, park in the designated visitor area, come into
the office, sign in and receive a visitor badge to enter the building.
· Use the sidewalks and designated crosswalks at all times when coming into the
school and when departing from the school.
·
Follow
the directions of the traffic officer on Rimer Pond Road.
·
It is a violation of
state regulation for cars to enter a designated bus loading area.
·
Students
cannot be dropped off or
picked up by a car in the bus loading area.
Please
be advised that supervision for students is not provided prior to 7:30 a.m. or
after 3:20 p.m. (unless enrolled in the Boys & Girls Club Early Bird/After
School Programs). Children not picked up
by 3:20 p.m. will be escorted to the Boys & Girls Club where a daily fee
will be charged. Thank you for
following these important guidelines in order to insure the safety of all
children.

bus, it becomes the responsibility of the parent to bring the child to school. If you have questions
