RTE Rocked It Out with Hi-Lite from the Harlem Globetrotters!

Boosterthon CHALLENGE!

This weekend the Boosterthon team gave Round Top Elementary a school wide challenge: 

Students who earn $2 pledge per lap (or $60 flat donations) over the weekend will receive an additional bonus prize, the All Day Flex Frame Sunglasses! Log your student's pledges on to www.funrun.com and check out the community challenge videos while you're there! 

You can also download our HeroSteps app on your mobile device which contains all of our community challenge videos. We are excited to learn more about being a great community while raising funds for our school. 

The Boosterthon Fun Run is Thursday, November 6th! Our students and staff are super excited!

BOOSTERTHON - Day 1

Today in Team Huddle's our students learned about what it means to serve others.
Serving others means putting someone else's needs in front of your own.  Volunteer in your community or serve your family by asking how you can help them.

Round Top already has pledges from 16 states and 10 countries!  That is awesome!  We are well on our way to reaching our 50 state goal and have already met our 10 country goal!  Way to go Aviators!  How many more can we get?

States we have so far:  SC, NC, GA, FL, MS, AL, KS, CO, NM, WI, MI, OH, PA, NY, NH, DE

Countries we have so far:  South Korea, Israel, Japan, Oman, United Arab Emirates, Jordan, United Kingdom, France, Vietnam, USA 

IMPORTANT DATES & INFORMATION

As we end the first nine weeks of school, this is a good time to look ahead to plan and prepare for success during the second quarter.  Please take note of the following dates coming up soon:

  • 11:30 AM Dismissal Friday, Oct. 31st.  Report cards will be sent home.  Professional development for teachers has been scheduled for this date.
  • Make Up Pictures Monday, Nov. 3rd.  Students who were absent or enrolled after the August picture day will be called to take pictures between 8:00 and 9:00 AM.  No money is required until pictures are sent home.
  • No School Tuesday, Nov. 4th.  Election Day is less than a week away.  Be sure to exercise your right to vote!
  • BoosterThon Fun Run Day, Thursday, Nov. 6th.  Be sure your child is dressed in comfortable clothing and shoes.  And remember - Ask your child about the Rock'n Town character lesson each day!

RTE Reads for the Record!

On Tuesday, October 21, Round Top students joined millions of children nationwide who all Read for the Record in support of early childhood literacy using the picture book, Bunny Cakes, by Rosemary Wells.  All students in grades K-2 participated in the media center's literacy and craft activities based upon the book.







Walk for Life - Team RTE

Staff from RTE participated in the annual breast cancer "walk for life" this past weekend!  Thank you to our participants and all who supported them with a donation!

Artist in Residence - Hawk Hurst

This week, Hawk Hurst, Artist-in-Residence, has been working with students sharing his artistry of story telling.  He has been working on emphasizing dramatic story telling, reading, writing, history, art and music.  Thank you for visiting Mr. Hurst, the students loved having you here at RTE!

Honors Chorus

This past weekend Emmalyn Gilbreth, Riley Johnson, and Kaylee Landmeyer represented Round Top at the American Choral Director's Association Elementary Honors Chorus during the state conference. These students auditioned and were selected at the end of last year. They learned their music before attending, rehearsed with students from across the state on Friday, and performed at Anderson University on Saturday afternoon. Congratulations on a wonderful performance!




Get to Know Your School Board Candidates



On behalf of the Richland Two Teacher Forum and the League of Women Voters, you are invited to the School Board Candidates Forum this Thursday evening (Oct. 16), from 6 to 8, at the District Auditorium at Richland Northeast High School. All 12 candidates running for the four available seats have been invited to participate. The Candidates Forum will be the only event where the community can hear the candidates share statements and answer questions about important issues in our schools. 


If you can’t make it to the forum, you can watch a rebroadcast on R2TV, cable channel 12 on Time Warner. Air times and dates will be announced on the district’s website: www.richland2.org
